Dr. Betsy Nelson
Betsy is an ADHD-Certified Educator driven by a deep passion for making a meaningful difference in students’ lives. With thirteen years of experience teaching at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, she has witnessed firsthand both the challenges and potential within each learner. Betsy first completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering before returning to earn a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), a Master of Education (M.Ed.), and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction. Fascinated by the application of systems and technology in education, she sought out additional teaching certification in Cyber Education with a focus on helping students effectively leverage AI in their learning.
Dr. Nelson brings a personal understanding of the challenges of ADHD, shaped by her own experiences as a young person navigating medication and receiving special education support in math. These experiences have strengthened her belief that, with the right kinds of targeted support in place, meaningful transformation is possible and even the most reluctant and discouraged students can build positive momentum through small, supportive steps toward stronger executive functioning skills.
Betsy has supported students of all ages in building strong academic, organizational, and time management skills. In her role as a K–12 Instructional Coach, Dr. Nelson partners with teachers and guidance counselors to use clear, step-by-step executive functioning strategies across grade levels—helping students learn how to stay organized, meet expectations consistently, and follow through on assignments independently.
Known for her warm, kind, and patient approach, Betsy creates a supportive, collaborative environment where students feel capable and encouraged. Through both her personal experiences and her years working as an educator and coach, she has seen how confidence blossoms when students learn the skills to take ownership of their learning.
Outside of work, Betsy enjoys road biking, traveling, reading urban fantasy novels, gardening, and spending time with family.
